License Agreements
License terms governing the use, distribution, and modification of DeepCog.ai models and associated software.
1 Overview
Deep Cognition Labs distributes its AI models and software under a combination of open-source and proprietary licenses depending on the specific model, component, and intended use. This page summarizes the license terms applicable to DeepCog.ai models and Services. The full text of each license is linked from the relevant model card on HuggingFace and deepcog.ai.
In all cases, use of any DeepCog.ai model or Service is additionally subject to our AI Acceptable Use Policy, which applies alongside — and may impose additional restrictions beyond — the open-source license terms.
2 Open-Source Models — Apache License 2.0
The following models are released under the Apache License, Version 2.0:
- OpenBioLLM-70B and OpenBioLLM-8B (model weights and inference code)
- GenomicLLM-7B (model weights and evaluation scripts)
- Associated datasets released as open data
Under Apache 2.0, you are free to use, reproduce, modify, prepare derivative works, publicly display, sublicense, and distribute the models and derivatives, subject to the following conditions:
- You must include a copy of the Apache 2.0 license in any distribution
- You must retain all copyright, patent, trademark, and attribution notices
- If you modify the model, you must state that changes were made
- You may not use DeepCog.ai trademarks to endorse your derivative works
- All use remains subject to our AI Acceptable Use Policy

3 Research License
Models not released under Apache 2.0 — including ClinicalReasoner-13B, DrugDiscovery-LLM, and PathologyVision-LLM — are available under a DeepCog.ai Research License for non-commercial academic research purposes.
The Research License permits:
- Internal research use by accredited academic institutions and non-profit research organizations
- Publication of research findings (with attribution as described in Section 7)
- Evaluation and benchmarking for non-commercial research purposes
The Research License does not permit commercial deployment, patient-facing clinical use, or sublicensing. To obtain a Research License, register at deepcog.ai/research-access or contact [email protected].
4 Enterprise License
Commercial deployment of any DeepCog.ai model in production healthcare, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology applications requires an Enterprise License. Enterprise Licenses are negotiated individually and include:
- Rights to deploy models in production clinical or commercial environments
- Access to model weights for fine-tuning on proprietary datasets
- SLA-backed API access with dedicated infrastructure options
- Support for HIPAA Business Associate Agreements
- Technical support and model update channels
Contact [email protected] or visit deepcog.ai/contact to begin the Enterprise License process.
5 API Access License
Access to the DeepCog.ai API is granted under a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to make API calls to our hosted models. This license is personal to the registered account holder and may not be shared, resold, or sublicensed. Rate limits, usage quotas, and permitted use cases are defined in your account agreement and subject to change with 30 days' notice.
6 Third-Party Components
Our models and software incorporate third-party components under their respective licenses. Key base models used in our training pipelines include:
- Llama 3 — Meta AI, Llama 3 Community License
- Mistral 7B — Mistral AI, Apache 2.0
- GPT-NeoX — EleutherAI, Apache 2.0
- LLaVA-Med — Microsoft Research, research license
A complete bill of materials for third-party components is available in the model cards on HuggingFace. Users are responsible for complying with the licenses of all base models used in derivative works.
7 Attribution Requirements
When publishing research, releasing software, or producing commercial outputs that use or incorporate DeepCog.ai models, you must include the following attribution in your documentation, paper, or product disclosure:
"This work uses [Model Name] developed by Deep Cognition Labs (DeepCog.ai). For model details, see deepcog.ai/models."
Academic publications should additionally cite the relevant model paper as listed on each model's HuggingFace page.
8 Derivative Works
Derivative works (including fine-tuned models) created from Apache 2.0 licensed models may be distributed under the same or compatible licenses, provided that: (a) the DeepCog.ai AI Acceptable Use Policy continues to apply; (b) appropriate attribution is included; and (c) the derivative model card clearly states the base model and the nature of modifications made.
Derivative works from Research License or Enterprise License models may not be redistributed without express written permission from DeepCog.ai.
9 Patent Rights
Subject to the terms of the applicable license, DeepCog.ai grants you a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free patent license to make, use, and distribute the licensed models, limited to patent claims licensable by DeepCog.ai that are necessarily infringed by our contribution to the model. This grant does not cover claims that would be infringed only as a consequence of modifications you make.
